Younger-looking skin: Instant and easy with Restylane®
It seems that no matter what we do, from going outdoors to simply smiling or frowning, wrinkles are inevitable. But inevitable doesn’t have to mean permanent!
As we age, we gradually lose the layer of supportive tissue under our skin. Unfortunately, sun exposure, genetics, stress and natural aging processes all take their toll…on our faces. As that underlying support disappears, our once firm skin begins to deflate.
Replacing some of that lost volume with cosmetic injectables such as Restylane® has become a safe and popular way for men and women to get smoother, firmer skin, instantly and with long-lasting results!
What issues can be improved with Restylane®?
Restylane® is a minimally invasive way to fill in wrinkles, scars and imperfections; plump up lips and build volume on cheekbones. Skin becomes firmer and smoother, and even deep lines between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds) can be improved with Restylane®. These non-surgical injections are easy to customize and control, so you get a natural, refreshed look with minimal discomfort or downtime.
What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a dermal filler used to help diminish the appearance of folds and wrinkles. Restylane® is made from transparent hyaluronic acids, which are sugars naturally found in the skin that help provide hydration, fullness and elasticity.
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in skin, providing fullness and elasticity, with the help of collagen and elastin. As we age, our hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin breakdown causing skin to appear thin and contributing to surface wrinkles and sagging facial folds, especially around the mouth.
Many cosmetics have started using hyaluronic acid to improve skin hydration, but Restylane® gets hyaluronic acid under the skin where it can build up smoother, “plumped” skin from within.
What should I expect during my Restylane® appointment?
Depending on your volume needs and treatment areas, your Restylane® appointment will last only about an hour. During treatment, the clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid acts like your body's own hyaluronic acid to fill wrinkles and plump and smooth skin at the injection sites. And you’ll see results immediately!
We want your treatment to be as comfortable as possible, so you’ll have pain relief options available before, during and after treatment!
After Restylane® treatment, some women experience temporary side effects such as swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, lump formation or itching at the treatment site. These effects are typically mild and last less than a week. Gently applying cold compresses can help ease pain and swelling. However, if you are concerned about any of these issues, don’t hesitate to call us and we’ll determine if what you are experiencing is outside of normal expectations for your treatment.
How many Restylane® treatments will I need for the best results?
When you meet with us for your initial consultation, we’ll discuss your desired goals and a specific treatment plan. Some areas may need only one treatment for optimal results, while others may require gradually reaching your desired appearance through a series of treatments. And we’ll talk about a maintenance schedule to keep you looking great and feeling confident.
How long will my Restylane® results last?
How long your results last will depend on the treatment area and your goals. You’ll see results immediately and should enjoy your new, younger-looking skin and contours for up to 18 months. We’ll discuss your specific treatments and expectations during your consultation so you’ll feel comfortable knowing what to expect from Restylane®.
Are there any risks associated with using Restylane®?
At your consultation, we’ll talk about your health history and determine if Restylane® is right for you! Generally, you may need to avoid Restylane® if you have recently used blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder, or if you have had allergic reactions to lidocaine or gram-positive bacteria. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use Restylane®, and it is not recommended for anyone under the age of 22.
