ProFractional™ Laser Treatment: High Tech. Fast Recovery. Amazing Results.
Cutting-edge technology and your skin’s natural regenerative abilities come together to make ProFractional™ laser treatment a top choice for facial resurfacing.
The Sciton ProFractional™ laser is a quick and comfortable procedure that improves your skin’s overall appearance by treating thousands of pinpoint areas, a tiny fraction of your skin, rather than the whole surface.
You’ll see dramatic results with much less downtime than laser therapies that ablate 100 percent of your facial skin.
What is ProFractional™ laser treatment?
ProFractional™ laser technology achieves excellent resurfacing results with minimal downtime. Unlike full-field resurfacing which removes the entire surface area of a treatment site, ProFractional™ therapy ablates narrow-diameter channels into the skin, affecting only a fraction of the total treatment area.
The untreated skin around each channel responds with increased fibroblast activity, triggering collagen production. New collagen in the deeper layers of skin firms, smoothens wrinkles and lines and diminishes the appearance of scars and other imperfections at the surface.
Because the laser only directly affects a small fraction of the treated area overall, there are fewer risks of infection, scarring and discoloration than with a total laser resurfacing. There's also much less discomfort and the healing time is accelerated to days instead of weeks.
What skin issues can be improved with ProFractional™ laser treatment?
What should I expect during my ProFractional™ laser treatment?
During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss pre-op preparations, such as stopping retinoids and acid treatments three days prior and discussing other medications that may impact the treatment.
When you arrive for your ProFractional™ treatment, we'll clean your face and apply a topical anesthetic cream, give you eye guards and take other measures to ensure your comfort depending on your treatment areas and depth of treatment.
During the procedure, a customized formula of vitamins, medications and other elements is applied to the treatment area where it is quickly absorbed through the pinpoint channels and delivered into the deeper layers of skin. The ProFractional™ laser treatment typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes.
What can I expect after ProFractional™ laser treatment?
After treatment, cold compresses are applied to cool the skin. Treated areas may have temporary pinpoint bleeding or minor swelling.
The healing process generally takes two to seven days. Immediately following the procedure, treated areas will have the sensation of a bad sunburn. By the next morning, you'll see old skin cells begin to shed and may experience minor itching.
Within 48 hours of the procedure, redness will begin to fade, and by day three any redness can be easily covered by makeup.
Recovery from ProFractional™ treatment requires nothing more than a protective ointment such as Aquaphor or Vaseline, which keeps air away from your new skin cells.
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds until fully healed. A broad-spectrum sunblock with zinc oxide and/ or titanium dioxide as the primary ingredients should be used daily.
How long will it take to see results from ProFractional™ treatment?
After the skin heals, improvement continues for up to six months as the collagen structures rebuild and grow. Within weeks, skin feels smoother, sunspots and pigmentation fade and fine lines and wrinkles begin to disappear. Overall results depend on your skin’s condition, the number of treatments and the area of the body that is treated.
How many treatments will I need?
The ProFractional™ laser can be adjusted to fit your individual needs. You can elect to have fewer deep treatments with a longer recovery period or a longer series of lighter treatments with less downtime. Patients see optimal results with one to four treatments spaced three to six weeks apart, depending on your needs and response to treatments.
If you have been waiting for skin care technology to offer dramatic results with less downtime, ProFractional™ laser may be what you’ve been looking for. Only a consultation can determine if ProFractional™ laser treatment is the best option for your skin care needs.
