Different Types of Chemical Peels for Your Skin
Do you ever look in the mirror and think, “If I could just strip away the top layers of fine lines and uneven tone, it would take years off my skin”? Professional chemical peels can do just that.
Chemical peels are an important part of maintaining younger-looking skin.
Professional peels gently exfoliate dulling dead skin cells to reveal deeper layers of fresh, untouched skin. The right peel will improve tone, texture, fine lines and wrinkles, breakouts and dark spots.
Harmony Healing uses the trusted and highly effective PCA SKIN® line of peels to ensure the best results and the safest, most comfortable treatments for our clients.
Peels at Work
Peeling is simply exfoliation. Chemicals in the peel solution loosen and remove dead skin cells in the uppermost layers of skin so healthy skin cells can then rise to the surface. Treated skin may peel or flake after treatment as skin sheds dead and damaged surface cells. Younger cells then become the surface you see, free of signs of aging, sun damage, dirt and debris. This process is called cell turnover.
Chemical peels support the cell turnover process to improve skin concerns such as acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots and breakouts.
PCA SKIN® line of peels now includes TCA and lactic blended peels, retinoid peels and boosters and chemical peel alternatives.
What to Expect After a Peel
Not everyone experiences visible peeling. The cell turnover process will depend upon skin type, resilience, type of peel and the number of layers applied.
While some people experience ‘sheeting,’ when large portions of the skin peel off at once, others experience only mild flaking. If you do not see visible flaking or peeling, your skin is still exfoliating on a cellular level. Typically, the deeper the peel you receive, the more extensive peeling you will experience.
PCA SKIN® chemical peels require little to no downtime after treatment. Most patients leave treatment with a healthy glow and can immediately resume their regular activities.
However, it is important to follow a post-procedure regimen after treatment to optimize your results and keep peeling and redness to a minimum. After your peel, avoid activities that cause sweating for 48 hours and protect treated skin from sun exposure.
We will go over your complete personalized after-care regimen following your treatment.
Regular monthly treatments can continue to create a more even skin tone, improve the appearance of aging skin, clear acne and brighten complexions.
Peel Safety and Your Skin
Peels are safe for all skin types. During your consultation, we will identify what treatment combination is safe for your skin and best suited for your skin issues and goals. Following skincare guidelines before and after a peel will yield better, longer-lasting results.
Many people are apprehensive about the safety and recovery time for peels, but today’s peels are formulated for maximum impact with minimal side effects and downtime.
